HI Students! Please make progress on your essays this week. I will devote some of the class time to workshopping your essays again, but we need to move on to "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Shakespeare! Please look at the comments I made in your essay documents. If you wrote your essay in something other that Google, please do not do that anymore! Always write in Google docs at home so that we can access it in class. If you did write it in something else (Word, Pages), copy what you wrote there and paste it into the Google doc you were working on in class. Email me with any questions! Thanks! Mrs. G

Tuesday: Lit Comp 1

Hi Students! Great to see you again! This week please write your introductory paragraph for your Tom Sawyer essay. It should contain a summary and the thesis statement we talked about. Also, please bring three reasons you think Tom Sawyer the book will be a book people love to read forever and two examples per reason from the book (6 examples altogether) to support your thesis. Do these in pencil on the sheet or go ahead a start your essay in a Google Doc. Eventually you will turn it in as a Google Doc. Thanks! Mrs. G

Tuesday: Lit Comp1

Hi Students, Please finish the Conflict chart and the two questions below this week. I would like 2-3 full sentences for those last two questions. Also Please read up to chapter 25 or page 126. Feel free to read ahead if you would like. We will finish the book over the vacation. Have a great week! Thanks! Mrs. G

Check grades!

Hi Everyone, just a reminder to check infinite Campus this week to see if you are missing anything. Do not send me an email saying, "I did this." If you think you did do it and it shows as missing, then resend it to me in an email or reshare it. I will need to have grades in by Dec. 13 for High School students. I will accept missing work or corrected work until 12/13. Thanks! Mrs. G

Tuesday: Lit Comp 1

Tuesday: Lit Comp 1

Hi Students! Nice work on your in class presentations. If you were not here to present today, please come prepared to present your slide show to the class on the Tuesday you return. Over the break, please read the first 50 pages of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Here is an audio version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF7lSyjmZwQ
I haven't found a great online version and there are many abridged versions out there. Please find a copy at the library or used bookstore if you want a hard copy to read over the break.

Please complete this Slide show essay recap assignment over the break. You can go into the slide show and see the comments I made. Please then respond to the comment right there by rewriting the comment in your own words (or you can do it slide by slide on a separate document.) Then write a 2-3 sentence reflection on what you will do next time in an essay or similar essay slide show. This should be pretty a fast. You are also welcome to change/correct any part of the slide show for more points. I will take this the week after the break.
Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving and have a wonderful time with your families! Mrs. G
