Welcome!

Welcome to the 2020/21 school year! I cannot wait to meet those of you I haven't met and to see all of my returning students! We are going to have a great time together exploring and discussing all kinds of things!  Every time we meet we will talk about what we read that week and what we wrote about. I have several fun activities and assignments planned that will continue to develop our reading and analysis skills as well as our composition/writing skills. We'll discuss our ideas, thoughts, and feelings about the topics, characters, storyline and so many other aspects of literature and writing. We'll read each other's writing and practice giving feedback and being helpful to one another. I am positive that our hour together will fly by!

One of my favorite aspects of teaching is listening to my students' wonderful ideas about the things we read. I am always learning from my clever students. It is my goal to establish a comfortable and respectful learning environment where we are able to develop our voices and talk freely about the books we read and the pieces we write.

Parents, you will receive a weekly summary about what we did in class as well as well as the expectations for homework for the week. This will come from our new teaching/grading platform Google Classroom. Please always feel free to email me at any time should you have a question or concern.

Apex is clearly a very special place and no matter what the school year looks like: virtual, hybrid or in-person, it will be a great year! See you soon! Mrs. G
