Description: Students will explore ecology, biochemistry, cell theory, energy and information transfer in cells, biotechnology, development of multicellular organisms, heredity, genetics, and the human body systems. Frequent laboratory activities introduce and reinforce concepts and principles of biology. Chapters on evolutionary theory and human reproduction are not covered during class. Textbook reading assignments, hands-on resources, and computer visualizations will be used during this course to allow students to gain a more complete understanding of the concepts presented. Laboratory experiments including dissections are performed weekly. Hands-on participation in dissection is not required, but students are required to be present.
