Description:  Students will explore ecology, biochemistry, cell theory, energy and information transfer in cells, biotechnology, development of multicellular organisms, heredity, genetics, and the human body systems. Frequent laboratory activities introduce and reinforce concepts and principles of biology. Chapters on evolutionary theory and human reproduction are not covered during class. Textbook reading assignments, hands-on resources, and computer visualizations will be used during this course to allow students to gain a more complete understanding of the concepts presented. Laboratory experiments including dissections are performed weekly. Hands-on participation in dissection is not required, but students are required to be present.

Homework: Complete board assigned in Discovery Education on Classification and be sure to submit the practice assessment assigned with that concept.

Today we discussed the topic of Genetic Engineering.  We examined natural as well as man-made advancements in Genetics.  I posed the question "Just because we can, should we?" as it relates to these genetic technologies.
