Spanish 1-M-W Period 2 Assignments

We will work on this project in class on Monday, 17 May. It will be due at the end of class or at the beginning of class on Wednesday. We will be reading each project in class.

Wrap up the ser vs. estar comparison by doing workbook page 144.
Then learn about Spanish direct object pronouns with the online exercises.

This quarter's sets are from March 29 through May 5.

I have assigned Vista exercises and information on the present progressive and also on choosing the use of estar or ser. Also please do workbook pagina 143. Please note that this workbook page has a chart listing the uses of these two verbs which may be helpful when you are doing the ser/estar activities on Vista.

Do assigned exercises to practice the present progressive on Vista and then workbook p. 139.

Complete the assigned estar and adjectives exercises on Vista and workbook pages 136 and 137.

Intro + tutorial exercises on estar with conditions and emotions on Vista.
Print out adjectives from materials on Google Classroom that go with these exercises and learn them.
You can fold the paper down the middle and practice the words this way or cut them across, fold them
and use them individually as flashcards.

There are an hour of exercises for you to do on Vista. These are the ones that are worth the most points, so you will need to know our new vocabulary. (I reassigned the tutorial for the weather since we did not go over that in class today).Remember that there is a lista de vocabulario at the bottom of the Actividades list.  Also do workbook pages 127 and 128 and upload those by 5 PM Domingo.

Complete assigned activities on Vista to see and learn our new vocabulary for vacaciones, estaciones, meses, y tiempo.
For those in period 3, also watch the new telenovela.

Go back to the recapitulacíon on Vista and complete it (sections 3 & 4). Then watch some cultural videos there on Vista and do the 2 
practice activities that follow.

I have assigned activities on Vista for you to practice the stem-changing verbs we have been working on. Please do those and then do workbook página 113. It was great to see you all today and to hear you, Juan!

We had an introduction in class today to stem-changing verbs, specifically e:i verbs. There are also e:ie and o:ue verbs, which you looked at for today's tarea. You will be practicing all 3 kinds on Vista and in the workbook this week. I will make a list of the ones presented in
the online textbook and post it in materials tonight or tomorrow. You can see them in the vtext on pages 129-130 and 133 if you'd like to.
Also do workbook pages 107 and 112 to practice the 3 types. Upload these to Google Classroom by 5 on Sunday.

Open the quiz and write on it if you are able. Otherwise write your answers however works for you and upload or email them to me.

Study for the "ir" quiz. Do the 5 assigned activities on Vista.

These are due on lunes, el ocho de 8 marzo. Upload them here.

On Vista, watch the 2 intro "ir" activities. Know the conjugation of ir (GO in a van) before you attempt the other activities. Do workbook pages 103 and 104. Expect a quiz on the conjugation of IR. Remember that your set notebooks are also due, #1 in January through #10 miércoles pasado.

Complete the 6 practice exercises I have assigned on Vista. Sounds like a lot, but they are short and the program says it should take 32 minutes or so. Hasta miércoles. --(Remember that you do not have to have the tarea parea miércoles done on martes anymore, only be clase miércoles.)

Do exercises on Vista which include new vocabulary and a reading and questions about Culture. Then watch the new fotonovela, "Fútbol, cenotes, y mole," and write the answers to #'s 2, 3, and 4 en la página 100 en el cuaderno.

This week we begin Lección 4, which is titled "Los pasatiempos" (Pastimes), and new vocabulary is about these plus sports and some places in town. Para miércoles, please do the assigned exercises on Vista and páginas 95 and 96* en el cuaderno. Upload this by 5 p.m. mañana por la tarde. (tomorrow afternoon-evening)

*In #3 on p. 96, you will need the meanings of Deportes (sports) and Lugares (places).

As you know, you will be taking the Lección 3 Prueba in class. Use the Summary that is here in Google Classroom
to review grammar, vocabulary, and verb conjugations.
Be aware that you will need to have your camera on and your eyes up while you take the test.

Open the 3 pages of the test. If you can open a pdf and edit it, do so, then upload it here to the assignment. If not, write your answers on a document online and upload it to the assignment here or write your answers on a sheet of paper, take
a photo of it and upload that.

There are 3 pages for the Practice Test and they are very like the test itself. Please write your answers on a document that you can upload to this assignments and have all three pages available in class on Wednesday.

In class I will assign you one (1) of the paragraphs in the attached document to read and translate in class--please upload your CAREFULLY WRITTEN OR TYPED translation by 5 on Sunday.
There will be some words you don't know. Skip over them at first and get the jist of the paragraph. Then try to make an intelligent guess as to what the word might mean. It is just fine if you don't get every word. Please do NOT use a translator, just write the word in Spanish in your English translation with quotation marks around it.

You will be learning to use the verbs tener, to have, and venir, to come.
1.) Study páginas 100 y 101 en el vtexto.
2.) En el cuaderno, do all of página 81 and #3 on p. 82. Upload these páginas by 5 p.m. domingo.
3.) On Vista, do the activities I have assigned in the Estructura section 3.4 under Activities.

Do the assigned intro and exercises on vhl to learn about 2 "stem-changing" and therefore "irregular," but very common Spanish verbs, tener (to have) and venir (to come).
I will add the conjugations of these 2 verbs in materials and you can print them out to use on Vista to do the exercises.

Fill in the forms of the -ar or -er or -ir verb that I assign you.

Please do the assigned exercises on vhl and workbook pages 75 & 76 (upload these wb pages by Sunday at 5 p.m.)
Memorize the endings of the 3 regular verb conjugations. I have attached the document to show you these.

Esta semana we are working on -er and -ir verbs.
Please read the material in the vtext, páginas 96 & 97.
Then do the assigned exercises on Vista.
Lastly study and learn the -er and -ir verbs we practiced in class
with the cavemen and their meanings on p. 97 (or use the vocabulary practice online).
We will watch the fotonovela juntos (together) in class.

This week your goal is to memorize the common adjectives and adjectives of nationality in the vtext on p.89 as well as to learn
where they are placed in Spanish sentences.
1.)To study the unit vocabulary, go to Quizlet and find "Senderos 1 Chapter 3." Use these flashcards to learn the vocabulary.
2.)Read over the material on page 93 in the vtext.
3.) Watch the telenovela/fotonovela for this lección. Pay attention to
the family vocabulary and the adjectives.

First, I am sorry to say that some did not have their online work done by 5 p.m. ayer, domingo.
So I do have to dock that work 10%. Please do it so it is not a cero!

1. Quiz on Family Vocabulary. I have re-assigned the La familia vocabulary under the Lección 3 Contextos for you to practice. And of course there is a Lista de vocabulario available under Contextos too.

At the bottom of the Lección 3 pull-down activities, select the Lista de vocabulario and study/review and learn the vocabulary in the first 3 lists, titled la familia, otras personas, and profesiones.
(This list is also in the vtext on p. 78.). Then do the assigned exercises to check your learning. Notice that there is a vocabulary list at the top that you can refer to if you need to.

Study for the Lección 2 test. Remember that there are materials here on GC that I have posted which will help you study.

You can use the materials I have posted as we went through the unit as well as flashcards and your workbook to review. Remember that the textbook is on Vista for you to study also. And I have posted a lección summary and a practice test for you earlier today.

Look at and study the unit summary first.

From “Content” on the dashboard, select the vtext and go to páginas 63 & 64 to read and study the information there on numbers above 31. Then do workbook p. 45 and finally, the selected activities on Vista under Estructura 2.4.

Para miércoles, do the 3 ejercicios I have assigned for Estructura 3. These quiz you on prepositions, the conjugation of estar, and for the last one you must choose whether to use ser OR estar and conjugate them. (I will attach the acrostics we saw in class below.) Then look in the vtext on pages 63 & 64 to learn how to use Spanish numbers over cien (100). Also watch the tutorial for these.

You will be learning about the verb estar and the prepositions that are used with it this week. Do the assigned exercises online, beginning with the vtext introductions to both on pp. 59 & 60. Study these pages carefully before you begin the exercises. Practice the Rima de las Preposiciónes which I have posted on Google Classroom. If you had not completed #4 on página 39, do so and upload it to G.C. Also do página 42 and upload it.

Memorize the question words!

Sing the Spanish Interrogatives Song over so many times that the dog (or a parent) howls in pain. You can also study the list of interrogatives. Both are posted here on Google Classroom under Resources.
Then go on Vista and complete the two assigned exercises there using these interrogatives.
Afterwards, complete the bottom half, #4 of page 39 in the workbook. This uses the question words also.

We talked at the end of class about the 3 ways to form questions. There is a 4th way, which uses question words like Who? What? Where?,etc., in English.
For lunes, read about these 4 ways in the vtexto on pages 55 and 56. Then do the exercises on vhl that I have assigned. Write* in the answers on all of workbook page 38- and the top of page 39. Please upload them for me on Google Classroom.

*Use an ink pen or press hard on the workbook pages to make them easier to read.

On Vista, re-read the Lección 2, Estructura 1 Tutorial, paying special attention to the "Gustar" information and practice.
Then print out or study here the "AR verb" document here in GC.
Print out or study here the "Gustar" document from the textbook here in GC under Material.
Complete the newly assigned exercises there on Vista.
Lastly, complete workbook page 36 and send it to me here on GC.

Carefully read and watch the two activities assigned here on Vista. One is the vtext with a detailed written explanation about conjugating -ar verbs and the second is the tutorial about it. Then do the workbook page 35.

1.) Send me your set notebook for sets #1-9. This is the last time I will ask. Please ask someone or use a scanner or use a search engine for your computer to learn to do this. Also please send me the SER worksheet that you completed for yesterday (miércoles).

Skip the section just under the Nombre and Fecha (date). On the VISTA site, watch the Lección 2 video at least 2 times as the kids talk about their classes.

Hola Chicos! We are beginning a new unit. Para lunes, do the assigned activities on VISTA to learn new vocabulary about school and schooldays (ironic, ¿no?). Make flashcards or use those on the program or go to the vtext to practice. Then do pp. 29 & 30 in the workbook.

As we discussed in class on Wednesday, you be taking the Lección 1 exam this coming Wednesday. To prepare, study the lesson summary I will post here under material. Write down questions about anything you are unclear about. I will also post the lección vocabulary under materials. Use this list to memorize all the vocabulary by using the Vista online flashcards or those I have posted for you or ones you make yourself.

I am asking you to do a variety of homework para lunes. Please (1.)watch the ser tutorial AGAIN, especially from minutes 2:56, where the USES OF SER are explained. Memorize all this vocabulary WITH the article. Also do the assigned activities on Vista and workbook p. 7.

Click on your Vista calendar once you have signed in on the website. You will see: "Buenos Días! You can access your tarea due next Wednesday by going to the Vista calendar and clicking on the September 9 'Online Practice 5' and ,after completing that work, on the 'Announcement 1' to see the workbook pages you should complete (before class) after watching the Fotonovela."

Bring your new composition book to class on Wednesday! Also, do pages 1 and 2 in the new workbook after
