We will work on this project in class on Monday, 17 May. It will be due at the end of class or at the beginning of class on Wednesday. We will be reading each project in class.

I will attach a Word and a Google Doc to this email. They show the conjugations of faire and of regular and irregular -IR
verbs. Study these and have them at hand when you complete the Vista exercises I have assigned on faire, il faut, and IRregular -IR  verbs.
I will also place these documents in Materials here on Google Classroom.

Complete the activities on Vista to learn the verb faire ( to do or make) as well as the expression, 'il faut,' which means 'it is ncessary to do...(something). Par exemple, 'Il faut faire les devoirs.'

Complete the activities I have selected in Leçon 5A on Vista for Activites
and sports. Use the document I've attached to study your words.
Also go to vocabulaire at the bottom of the 5A Activities page and repeat the new words after they are spoken.
Do the workbook pages 113 and 114.

Complete the take-home test on Leçon 4B. You may use any Vista sources (remember the textbook is online) as well as the materials I have posted in Google Classroom.
Do not use Google Translate or something similar or a human (besides yourself).
The first section is a listening exercise and we will do that in class on Wednesday.

There are a couple of exercises on Vista to practice prendre and boire as well as some to work on conjugating -ir verbs.
Also please do workbook p. 108. I will put the conjugation of an -ir verb here under materials.

Remember that prendre can mean to get or take? There are derivatives of this verb, like comprendre, to understand; and apprendre, to learn.
See the verb conjugation of prendre (and boire) in materials here on GC.
Memorize both these new conjugations.
Also do the activities on Vista that I have assigned and the workbook pages 105 & 106 to practice boire and prendre and the partitive (when you talk about some of something: du, de la, d', and de in the negative).

I am working today at school and realizing how close the end is (of school, bien sûr!) and how much I'd like to cover before then.
That said, I am assigning you some work on Vista for this coming lundi. 

Practice all the new 4B vocabulaire. Also do workbook pages 97 & 98.

1.) Under Activités in Leçon 4B on Vista, look at and listen to and repeat the new vocabulaire in the presentation of "J'ai faim!" 
2.) Then, BEFORE you do the other exercises, go to the vocabulaire 4B (also under Content--at the bottom-and learn it!
3.) Then go back to 4B content and complete the other assigned activities there.
4.) Lastly, do workbook pages 95 & 96.

Study for a quiz on 4A, "Où allons nous?"

You will need to know
1. the conjugation of aller
2. the vocabulaire for places in town and associated words (verbs)
3. interrogatives (question words)

These are the the first four items in the Materials section for Leçon 4 here on Google Classroom.

Follow the instructions on the quiz. If you cannot write on it, send me your answers another way.

Do the Vista work assigned to practice interrogatives. Also study the Leçon 4A vocabulaire.
Do page 95 in the workbook and use the "Jingle Bells" song in Materials here to learn these
interrogatives.

Complete the exercises I have assigned on Vista. Memorize the question words, etc. I have posted in Materials. Do workbook page 94.

I have assigned some final "aller" Vista activities as well as a few introductory activites to begin learning interrogative (question) words.
Also remember to prepare for your quiz on "aller." A mercredi! (Until Wednesday)

These are due on lundi, le 8 mars. Upload them here.

On Vista, watch the assigned "aller' (to go) activities. Know the conjugation of aller (see materials on here for conjugation) before you attempt the other activities. Do workbook pages 91 and 92. Don't forget that we can use aller to say 1) where we are going and 2) what we are going to do (the "go" future or the futur proche/ near future). Expect a quiz on the conjugation of "aller" mercredi. Remember that your set notebooks are also due, #1 in January through #11 aujourd'hui.

I have assigned vocabulaire and practice activities for you on Vista. Study the vocabulaire and keep it handy for when you do the exercises. (Remember that your devoirs pour mercredi are no longer due by 5 p.m. mardi, only by class on mercredi.) Also, I will ask you to upload your set notebooks by lundi de la semaine prochaine (le 8 mars).

Write out answers to pages 4 and 5 of the practice test. I will post suggested answers in a day or so.
Study for the Leçon 3, A & B examen, which you will take lunes.

Watch for verb and adjective agreement!

1.) Do the practice test for Leçon 3, which I will post this afternoon or evening.

2.) This week we begin Leçon 4, which is titled "Où allons-nous?" which means "Where are we going?". We will learn some activities and places around town as well as some new verbs to talk about what we are doing. There are a few places to practice the new vocabulaire: First on Vista 4A under Contextes do the presentation "Où allons-nous?", then pull down on Vista and under "My Vocabulary," Unité 4 do 'Dans la ville' and 'Activités.' You may want to print these out and fold the paper down the middle
to practice the words and phrases.

The first section is listening. We will do this at the beginning of class Wednesday.--Sorry this is such a poor scan. I will try to do the test one at school.

Besides the two disjunctive pronoun exercises on Vista, please do the assignment on the attached document and upload your "email" here by Sunday, le 22 février à cinq heures.
Notice that you are to describe the members of your family using the vocabulary from this Unité. An example is last on the page, but do not copy it, just use it to help you know what you want to say.

Please do the assigned number and preposition exercises on Vista and in the workbook, pp. 80 and 81.

You will be doing 4 number exercises and 6 prepositions exercises on Vista in 3B. I have posted a chart and list of the prepositions you'll be learning under materials. Please view that after you finish the number exercises on Vista and before you start the prepositions ones. When you view the new tutorial, stop at about 4:15 after the prepositions. We will learn about disjunctive pronouns later.
Also do workbook page 78, exercise #4 (more numbers).

This week you are learning the numbers 61-100 en français. I did put a list of them here on Google Classroom in the previous post, and they are also on the 3B vocabulary list online. You will view the tutorial online and complete an 'A vous!' practice there. (You'll notice that the French are great number re-cyclers!) Also do workbook page 77 and only #5 on page 78. Post these pages by 5 mardi s.t.p.

Practice the new vocabulaire for the lesson that was due today as well as the newly assigned professions and expressions on the 3B vocabulary list. Do the newly assigned exercises on Vista and then workbook pages 71 and 72.
PLEASE PRESS HARD WHEN YOU WRITE THE WORKBOOK PAGES and upload them by 5 on dimanche.

Please do the 6 remaining practice activities I have assigned on VISTA for 3A.
Then do page 69 dans le cahier. Please upload the page by 5 p.m. dimanche.

When you are using adjectives in French, it is all about agreement (singular/plural, masculine/feminine).This applies to the adjectives on page 99 especially. You must memorize these adjectives and their irregular forms...and whether they go before or after the nouns they modify.
1.)Read over the vtext pages 98 and 99, and then go to Quizlet "D'accord 3a - Descriptive Adjectives" and use the flashcards to memorize the adjectives and their forms. 2.)When you know them, do (OR redo) workbook p. 65 and also p. 66.
3.) When you have finished these, tackle the assigned activities on vhl.
As is our new usual, finish the online activities and upload copies of the workbook (cahier) assignment by 5 p.m. dimanche.

First, I am sorry to say that some had only part of their online work done by 5 p.m. hier, dimanche. So I do have to dock that work 10%. But please do it asap.

Pour mercredi à 5 heures, please do the online work I have assigned. As I mentioned in class, I have asked you to watch the tutorial again as it is très important. You will also practice with some online exercises. Then please do workbook page 65.

1. Quiz on Family Vocabulary. I have re-assigned this vocabulary under the Leçon 3 Contextes for you to practice. And of course there is a vocabulary list available under Contextes too.

2. Read the introductory material on descriptive adjectives on pages 98 and 99 in the vtext.
Then do the assigned exercises on Vista under 3A.1

As mentioned in class, do #5 on page 58 in the Cahier d'élève. First, write the English translation
on the given lines. Then, using the given paragraph as a model, write a response on a separate sheet
of paper in which you describe your famille.

Also, read through the textbook (vtext) pages 98 + 99 to learn how French adjectives work.
Memorize the "Adjectives of physical description" on page 98. They are also listed at the bottom of the activities page for 3A under Adjetifs descriptifs. ~~It would be easiest to learn these by making flash cards and keeping them on your nightstand or dresser or by your computer, or somewhere that you could go through them often.

Please upload your set notebooks here asap! --by Tuesday, December 15 at the latest.

At the bottom of the 3A pull-down activities, re-select the vocabulaire and study/review and learn the people and pet words there. (This list is also in the vtext on p. 90.). Then do the 3 assigned exercises on line to check your learning. Notice that there is a vocabulary list at the top that you can refer to if you need to.

Bonjour! This week we are beginning to learn "family" words. Please take a look first at the "La famille" "vocabulaire in Leçon 3A at the bottom of the "Strands" list. Then go to assigned exercises these on Vista, including watching thg video L'album de photos. Lastly, do workbook page 57.

Before you begin the exercises on VISTA and the workbook pages, please see the information about telling time in French and converting clock time to official/military time which I will post here. Please do the selected exercises on VISTA. Also complete workbook pages 52 and 53 and upload them here.

First, learn the list of avoir expressions I have posted here on Google Classroom. Next, use them to do pages 49 and 50 in the Cahier de l'élève. Then go to the Vista site and do the exercises I have assigned there.

Look at workbook page 44. Do you know the meaning of the verbs in section 4 and the verbs and words in section 5?
Look them up in the vtext if you don’t and then remember to conjugate the verbs to agree with the subject as you complete this page.
Also watch the video for 2B, “On trouve une solution,” and do 3 exercises on Vista to learn the conjugation of avoir.

Complete the assigned exercises to practice time periods we talked about today. You'll also need to know the meanings of verbs we have learned in 2A and how to conjugate them. Do workbook page 43, but do not upload.

For lundi, as an at-home, open-book Unité 2A quiz, you will use your
French vocabulary and knowledge of how to conjugate le verbe
être and all regular -er verbs to write one of the following:
[Upload your composition or poem to my Google Classroom by 5 p.m.
Diamanche (Sunday).]

1.) Write a 3-paragraph composition entitled "Mes Cours," in which
you describe 3 of your classes. You can describe what you think
about the classes and your teachers, where the classes are
located, what you bring with you, etc.

2.) Acrostic Poem*: Choose a vocabulary word from Leçon 2A which
you want to use as the base for your poem. Think about how this word can be used in the lines of the acrostic. Write the poem using as many
conjugated verbs and lesson vocabulary words as possible. The poem
does not have to rhyme, but it should have a certain continuity and
rhythm.

ALSO: Study the vocabulary assigned for today again and we will play a new
(different words) game of Danger! (which is how you say jeopardy en français.)

*The letters along the left margin spell a word vertically and you create a line of words to go with it.

ON VISTA (vhl): Just to practice être again, I am sending you back to 1B to practice être and the use of c'est and il est for 20 minutes. Then from 2A, under content, pull down on My Vocabulary. Choose Unité 2, then 2A and review and practice this vocabulary. Use the flashcards!

We will play in class tomorrow; the winner to get a free excused homework assignment.
Study that vocabulary!

You remember we talked in class about the 4 ways to form questions en français.
They are intonation (raise your voice), put the phrase "est-ce que" at the beginning,
ask for agreement with a "tag" word like n'est-ce pas?, and inversion, which simply means that instead of the sentence beginning with a noun and then a verb, begin with the verb and put the subject after that.
Practice doing this as well as learn how to make sentences negative by first reading about the two subjects in the vtext on pages 58 and 59 and then doing the exercises I've assigned for you to practice ton vhl.
Do the workbook pages *40 and 41 and send me a copy on google Classroom.

*BTW, if you use an ink pen or press hard on the workbook. pages, they are a lot easier
for me to read and comment on. Merci!

1.) Here on Google Classroom, read info on conjugating -er verbs and another on commands, which I have posted here under Material. They will help with the online work.
2.) On Vista, look again at the verb tutorial, paying special attention to how to conjugate
-er verbs, then carefully complete the other assigned exercises here (at least one is on commands, see #1).
3.) Lastly, complete page 38 in the workbook and submit it to me under this Google Classroom
assignment by 7 p.m. dimanche (sunday).

Carefully read and watch the two activities assigned on Vista. One is the vtext with a detailed written explanation about conjugating -er verbs and the second is the tutorial about it. Then do the workbook page 37.

As we continue to learn vocabulary for French classes, please study all the vocabulary in the vText on pp. 46 and 47. Under Content go to My Vocabulary, choose Leçon 2 and "Les cours" and use either the list or the flashcards there. Do the selected exercises to practice this vocabulary (I re-assigned the first one, in which you can hear the vocabulary pictured). Write answers to workbook pages 29 and 30.

Email me photos or screenshots of sets 1-9 from your set notebooks ([email protected]).
On Vista, do the assigned exercise and then study pp. 46 and 47 in the vtext, which is the next-to-last
pull-down item under Content. Write out or make flashcards of the "Vocabulaire" box on page 46.
Be ready to show it to me in class.

As I said in class, check your own answers from the practice test.
Figure out why you missed any--IF you missed any. You probably didn't.

All the instructions are from the actual test. Examples are given from most sections for you to practice.
Take this test and when I send the answers, see how you did. Study what you missed.

Carefully complete the assigned Vista online activities on the calendar. Also do workbook page 25 and have your workbook in class.

In addition to the assigned Vista activities, do workbook p. 24. Notice that in exercise 3 on page 24 you must conjugate the verb étre to agree with the subject and also make the adjective of the country match the gender of the person/persons. I will post a list of French adjectives on our Google Classroom.

In the Vista program In the vtext (under content), read pp. 28 & 29 about subject pronouns and the verb être. Under activities, in 1B, do the assigned activities. Also practice these by doing workbook p. 22. Use the être handout on Google Classroom if you need it.

Go to Activités on Vista and select leçon 1B. In Contextos, practice the "En Classe" vocabulary. Next go to "Vocabulaire" from the pulldown items and learn that vocabulary. These are the same words that are on the quizlet site. That link is on a previous homework assignment. Then go back and do the rest of the "En Classe" activities. Also: COMPLETE WORKBOOK P. 16, take a screenshot, and mail it to me at [email protected].

Use these cards to learn your new vocabulary

After signing in to Vista, pull down and click on your calendar (upper right). Complete the online practices listed. After you've watched the video, look at the calendar again and click on the "announcement" on the 9th to see the workbook pages you need to complete before coming to class on Wednesday. Merci!

Print or save to a French folder if you don't have a working printer. We will use in class tomorrow.

Please look over the lists of names and choose one or two that you'd like to use in French class. You might want to choose a name that is similar to your first or middle name or something that is completely different. My first name is Sharon, but I chose "Sophie" in one of my French classes. It's fun!

Choose one or two you like before class on Monday.
