Hello Everyone, this week we will just have a reading assignment to keep it easy for Spring Break! You will have two weeks for this assignment, until Thursday, April 1st or Friday, April 2nd depending on your attendance day.

Many of you will be returning in person so we will go over the reading for this week in class, if you are remaining online assignments will continue in the same way. In person students remember to bring your book and binder to class.

This week we are reading about the Mongols and the Mysterious East, there are a lot of interesting topics included in these chapters. You'll read about Genghis Kahn, Marco Polo, the Silk Road and the many characters found along the Silk Road. Here are the activities for the week:

3. Read chapter 11, Kingdom of the Franks and Chapter 13, The Great Kings of France. Take 2 or 3 notes from each chapter on important or interesting facts. (Share a picture of your notes with me.)

5. Watch the Fairy Tale, Puss in Boots, a fairy tale written in French that comes from European folklore. This story has wonderful illustrations.(Located below.)

Homework: Read chapter 12, The Islamic Invasion, take notes on the important/interesting facts.

Optional Activity: Make Charlemagne's Crown, I have included a template you can use, decorate the crown with foil, metallic paint, jewels, markers or anything you have to work with. Send me a picture if you make one, I would love to see it!

Welcome back to Middle Ages week 7, this week we will learn about the Medieval Indian Empire and how Tibetan sand mandalas are made. Watch this week's video to guide you through these activities:

1. Add 455 - 467 Skandagupta Rules India, to your timeline along with review card #5. This is the same timeline we already put The Glory that was Rome on, it should be in your binder.
2. Read chapter 5, The Medieval Indian Empire, and write 3 - 5 notes on the most important or interesting facts to you. (Send a picture, post your notes here or bring your notes to office hours, thanks!)

Watch the video about how a Byzantine mosaic was made. Create your own mosaic using small paper pieces in the shape of a fish, sun or heart (these were common mosaic shapes). I include a sample picture below, if you make one send me a picture, I would love to see it.
