Description: Throughout the year, students will chronicle all the happenings at APEX and create a full yearbook for the student body. Students will learn principles of good writing, editing, formatting, graphic design and layout using computers to put together the yearbook.

Visit the Yearbook Discoveries website and look through the Archives for Middle School Showcase.  Find a page or spread that you like and tried to re-create that page, or your favorite elements from that page, on your spread in our yearbook.  If you find something you don't know how to do, bring your question to class on Oct.25 so we can work on it then.  This assignment is due in class Nov.1.  As always, feel free to email me with any questions!

Assignment 4 is due Thursday, October 4.  Please refer to the paper copy of the assignment you received in class.  I'm attaching a copy of the file in case you lost it.  You can look at page 1 of the yearbook for my example, and of course, email me if you have any questions!

Assignment 3 : due Wednesday, Sept.19 -- I will check online in the evening
 
Upload and tag to your name and "Flash Zoom Motion" these 4 photos:
  1. show motion that is not blurry
  2. poor lighting in front of the window
  3. good lighting, any photo, nice & bright
  4. with your zoom set as close in as it can go
Watch the following HELP vidoes:
  1. Page Design -- Objects & Shapes -- drop shadow & transparency
  2. Page design -- objects & shapes -- rotating objects
Design your spread:
  • on the left page: 1 photo inserted three times
    • once as is
    • once zoomed in with the bubble tool (double click on the photo)
    • once flipped left to right (find this button on the tool bar on the bottom of your page by mousing over all the tool buttons)
  • on the left page: a different photo inserted four times
    • once as is
    • once lightened with the transparency tool (click on the fx in the tool bar)
    • once with a drop shadow (fx button)
    • once rotated to a diagonal

Congratulations!  You have either successfully subscribed yourself to Yearbook Class or I have subscribed you for you!  
 
Before class on Thursday, September 6, please be sure to have uploaded at least one photo to our yearbook website AND tagged it both as "student life" and as YOUR NAME!  If you do not tag it with your name, I can not give you full credit for completing this assignment!
 
For anyone who was not in class today or who forgot how to upload and tag photos, here are directions for how to watch the help video and learn how to complete this very important task!
 
1. Go to this website:   www.hjedesign.com
2. Your username is your first name and last name with no spaces in between (TomJones)
3. Your password, for now is the word Thursday (with a capital T)
4. From the home page click on the blue circle with the white question mark
5. Under "categories" click on "using the image library"
6. Watch the videos called "Uploading Images" and "Tagging Images"
