Due:

Assignment

State Travel Poster presentations are due the week of May 6th.

Due:

Assignment

Next week State Travel Posters are Due!  We will be putting them up in class and presenting to our classmates.  In addition to completing the posters, students can be working on their Trail Guides for extra credit: CO, WY, UT, NV, CA OR, WA, MT and ID.  Next week we will add our last two states, HI and AK!  If students have any outstanding homework or test corrections they need to complete, they may do so as well.  The last day to turn in all outstanding assignments is Wednesday, May 15th.

Begin studying for the States, Capitals and Abbreviations test on the West Region (map test) given during the week of May 13th.  This test will be graded and counted towards your Test grade in IC.  There will also be a test given which will recap all the regions (states, capitals and abbreviations) that we have studied so far.  This test will be given on the same day as the West Region map test.  This test will not count towards students' test grades, but will rather be figured into their participation grade.

Due:

Assignment

Students will be researching their State Travel Posters this week for homework.  We will be researching them next class as well.  Travel Poster presentations are due the week of May 6th and our test on the West Region will be the week of May 13th.  In addition to working on State Travel Posters and studying for the test, students can complete the following state pages in their Trail Guides for extra credit: UT, CO, WY, NV, ID and MT.

Due:

Assignment

Students can complete CO, UT, WY and NV in their Trail Guides, and work on their State Poster presentations.  Each student has a handout of the requirements for the State Poster presentation.  I will also attach it to the Post.

Due:

Assignment

Students will complete their crossword puzzles on both New Mexico and Arizona and finish their state advertisement.  Remember the state advertisement must include 5 facts about the state (students may choose whichever state in this region they would like, TX, OK, NM or AZ) and colorful drawings.  Students may choose to work on both NM and AZ in their Trail Guides for extra credit; the Trail Guide work is optional.  Our SW Region test will be given during the week of April 1st (no joke!!!) which is the week we return from spring break.

Due:

Assignment

Since our unit on the Southwest Region is so short we will not be completing an entire region packet.  Instead students will work on state crossword puzzles and advertisements for their homework grades.  Students can complete their crosswords for both TX and OK this week as well as work on the Trail Guide pages for both Texas and Oklahoma.  Note, the crossword puzzles must be completed and are the homework grade, while the Trail Guide is optional and counts towards extra credit.  Crossword puzzles will be due next class.

Due:

Assignment

Next week is our test on the Midwest Region.  Please study the 12 different states, their abbreviations, capitals, and location.  Read through your information packet and use your flash cards to help you with your studying.

Also next week both the Midwest Region packet and Trail Guide are due.  The Midwest Region packet counts towards your homework grade, and the Trail Guide is extra credit towards your test.

Due:

Assignment

Please complete your Advertisement in your Midwest Region packet.  Remember your ad can be for the region as a whole, or you may choose to do just one state.  Please be working on your Trail Guide for extra credit by adding the information for NE and SD.

Due:

Assignment

Students worked on the Culture and Interesting Fact sections of their Midwest packet.  If these sections were not completed in class, please do so at home.  Also students may work on both Missouri and North Dakota in their Trail Guides for extra credit.

Due:

Assignment

Today we read about landmarks of the Midwest.  Students will complete the Landmark and Places I'd Like to Visit sections in their Midwest Region packet.  Please work on finishing both Minnesota and Iowa in your Trail Guides for extra credit.

Due:

Assignment

Students will complete the sections on Products and Natural Resources in their Midwest Region packet.  In addition, students may work on Illinois and Wisconsin in their Trail Guides for extra credit.

Due:

Assignment

Students need to complete the 'Climate' section in their Midwest Region packet if they did not already do so in class.  Please work on both MI and IN in your Trial Guides for extra credit.

Due:

Assignment

Students will complete their Midwest Region packet page number 1, 'Landforms of the Midwest' and 'Water of the Midwest'.

In addition students can work on completing the state pages (Map and State of the Union) in their Trail Guides for Ohio this week in order to receive extra credit.

Due:

Assignment

Complete your entire Southeast region packet if you have not already done so. It will be collected in class before the test. In addition, work on the states of Florida and Georgia in your Trail Guides for extra credit.  Also start studying for our Southeast region test which will be given during the week of Monday, December 10th.

Due:

Assignment

Students who did not complete the 'Places I'd like to Visit', 'Interesting Fact about the Southeast' and Map of the Region in their packets today in class will do so at home.  In addition students can work on filling out all the necessary information in their Trail Guides on Arkansas and Louisiana (remember this is for extra credit). And finally, students may want to begin studying for their test on the SE region.

Due:

Assignment

Many students decided to take home their Southeast Region packet over Thanksgiving break.  If you took the packet home, please complete the sections on 'Landmarks' and 'Culture'.  Students may also work on their Trail Guides: by completing AL and MS, as well as making sure WV, VA, TN, KY, SC and NC are up to date.  Both the region packet and Trail Guide will be collected and graded the week (Monday, Dec. 10th) of our SE Region test.  Enjoy your holiday break!!!

Due:

Assignment

Students who did not finish the 'Products' and 'Natural Resources' sections in their Southeast Region packets will be completing them for homework. Remember to use complete sentences when answering each section.  Students can also work on SC, NC, and TN in their Trail Guides. And finally, students who still need to make test corrections please do so and turn them in before Thanksgiving break.

Due:

Assignment

Those students who did not complete our in-class work will be taking it home to finish.  Please complete the following sections in your Southeast Region packet: land features of the upper and lower states in the SE (the last page in the packet), climate and products.  The extra-credit work in your Trail Guide will be to complete West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky.  Finally remember to make all necessary test corrections, so they may be turned in for regrading.

Due:

Assignment

No homework this week.  We will wait to complete the Trail Guide pages for Virginia and West Virginia until next week.

Due:

Assignment

Please complete both the map and "State of the Union" pages for Pennsylvania in your Trail Guide.  Remember next class is the TEST on the Northeast region.  You will have to know where each state is located, what its capital is as well as the postal abbreviation.  Use your flashcards we made and the maps I gave you in order to help you study.  You will also be graded on spelling so be sure to practice this too.

Many students are behind on their assignments in the Trail Guide.  I am giving them the opportunity to complete all their missing homework by allowing them to finish the Trail Guide pages for the New England and Mid-Atlantic states (Northeast region).  This will be turned in next class before the test and graded.  Students must complete the necessary items (see the classroom posts if you have forgot what is required) in order to receive homework credit.  This is a big part of your grade, so I encourage all of you who are missing assignments to seize this opportunity.

Due:

Assignment

Please complete the necessary information in your Trail Guide for Maryland and Delaware.  Next week is our last state in the Northeast region, Pennsylvania.  We will be having a test over the NE the week of October 15th, so remember to start studying.  You may want to use your flashcards and two maps (The New England states and the Mid-Atlantic states) to help you prepare.

Due:

Assignment

Please complete the required elements for both the map and fact pages for New York and New Jersey in your Trail Guides.  Remember the required elements are the starred sections we did together in class for the state of Maine.  I have also listed these sections in a Post on our class page.  Please refer to this guide if you are still unsure about which parts to complete.

Due:

Students will complete Trail Guide workbook pages on Connecticut and Rhode Island.
