Kofford - 2nd Grade

Our 2nd grade program mirrors both our K/1 program structure and our class rotation structure for older grades. 2^nd graders will spend the first three hours of their day with their 2nd grade teacher exploring units in language arts, math, science, technology, and social studies and will have lunch and recess time with their 3^rd and 4^th grade peers in our APEX lunch room. Students then rotate together to art, PE, and music which are taught by our regular APEX instructors.  

All subjects are taught with an enrichment focus and an emphasis on hands-on, engaging activities. Students will work together to create, problem solve, and use design thinking to find solutions to various challenges in all lessons. The parent remains the primary educator and has responsibility for the student’s sequential learning program. Our program is structured to be a valuable complement to what parents are doing at home.  Please see the Art, Music and Physical Education sections of this catalog for descriptions of our PE, Music Explorers and Art classes, which are the same as the descriptions for grades 3-4.
