Description: Recorders, drums, xylophones, singing and more! Come explore making music! Students will expand their music knowledge and abilities in a fun, hands-on, exploratory environment. We will be singing songs, doing movement activities, learning about written music, discovering rhythm and pitch, exploring music’s role in our culture, and playing rhythm instruments and recorders. Students will have the opportunity to perform each semester. Most activities will be in class except for minimal recorder practice at home. This class is strongly encouraged prior to taking an instrumental class. New material is introduced each year, so this class can be repeated several times.

Performance 12/16

We have been working hard on a couple songs these past couple weeks for our performance on Monday, December 16th.  It will be with the all school performance at 2pm.  The students are sounding great and are excited to sing their songs!  Please email me with any questions you may have.

K/1 Music

This week the Kindergarten class continued to work on keeping the beat and writing out ta's and ti-ti's with popsicle sticks.  They are doing a great job!

The 1st grade worked on writing out ta's and ti-ti's with quarter notes, quarter rests and eighth notes written on popsicle sticks.  They also sang a song called I'm Gonna Build and used hand drums, cow bells, and woodblocks.  It was a lot of fun!

Music Class

Today we reviewed the 4 voices, Speaking, Talking, Whisper and Shout.  We also learned about fast and slow in music by playing a game similar to Headbands.

September 9, 2019

Today we learned about quiet and loud. We listened to a song that used loud, medium loud, medium quiet and quiet. Students followed along on a "map" that followed the dynamics (the volume of the song) of the music.
