Yearbook is DONE!

Hi Everyone!

I sure wish we could have met this week, I miss you all!  Thank you all that submitted reasons you like the new building and any edits you thought should be made.

I am now calling the yearbook done!  Thank you all for your hard work.  I think the book looks great!  I will be submitting it to be printed either today or Monday.  Yay!

YB - New Building Page

Yearbook Class -

There is one page that is unfinished in our yearbook...it is our New Building page.  The list as to why we love the new building needs to be completed.  If you can, send me an email and give me a reason or two why you really like the new building.  Thanks!

Finishing the YB

Hi Everyone.  The yearbook is almost finished!  I was just going to use this week for us all to look over and edit the book.  You can do this from home.  If you have time and would like, look over the yearbook sometime this week.  Email me with any mistakes that you see.  Also, email me with any suggested changes.  I will be sure to get back to you.  This is an optional activity, do not feel like you have to do this.  Thanks!   Mrs. LeFevre

Yearbook Update: January

The students have been hard at work getting their portrait spreads done for the yearbook.  This is a very time-consuming part of the book.  We make sure that every APEX student is represented on their respective grade-level pages.  The yearbook students are doing great and the pages are starting to make it look like a real yearbook.

We do not have any homework now, but when we get into the individual "fun" pages, the students may have homework if they do not meet deadlines and get their pages done in class.

Yearbook Update: December

The semester is coming to an end and the students have started work on the actual yearbook pages!  We are starting with the grade level spreads and then the students will be assigned some other "fun" pages from the list that they decide on.

There is no homework over the break, but there is going to be lots of work to get done when we all come back!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful break and a great holiday season!

Yearbook Update: Week of 11/18/19

We have been continuing with practice on our pages in the yearbook.  The students have mastered many of the skills needed to start on the actual yearbook pages!  We will be doing this in December.  However, the first week back after this break, I will give a "quiz."  I just want to see who has the skills down and who needs a little more practice.  All students went home with a checklist to practice before next class.

Yearbook Homework due 11/11/19

1. You already have pictures on your right side.  You need to put bordersj (or stroke) around those pictures.  We watched the video on how to do this.  If you need to rewatch, it is called: Stroke, Fill and Corner Type and it is under the heading Working with ObjectsPutting a border or stroke around a picture is the same as putting it around a shape.

2. Put a heading (this can be your name) on your left side.  Highlight the heading and choose a wider font such as AHJ Pinocchio and make it a larger font size such as 100.  You can type the font size in .  Then put a photo in the heading.  If you need to rewatch the tutorial on how to do this, it is called: Photo in Text under the heading Object Enhancement.   See my examples on the first page of the book in the ladder.

Yearbook Update: Week of 10/28/19

We are continuing with taking photos and page practice in class.  The students got a lot of great costume pics this week!  As far as the page practice, the students are learning how to add templates to their pages and how the templates can be very useful in arranging photos and text.  The students have also been experimenting with cropping and moving around photos in frames.

Yearbook Update: Week of 10/7/19

The Yearbook classes have been working really hard to get down uploading photos to our yearbook site.  Some are still having troubles...mainly students Android phones and older iPhones.  If we do not find a good solution, some of the students may start using iPads instead of their devices.  We will see in the next week.

This week, the students have also started experimenting with creating a page on the site.  Students were able to add photos to their pages, organize the layout and then play with some of the tools.  As the students go, they watch tutorials that lead them through the new skills/tasks.

In the upcoming weeks, we will continue watching tutorials and practicing with the pages.

Yearbook Update: Week of 9/16

For the last couple of weeks the yearbook students have been learning about taking photos and practicing photography.  Last week we had a little photography lesson and this week the students participated in a photography scavenger hunt.

In the next couple of weeks, the students will be practicing uploading these scavenger hunt photos to the computers and creating practice spreads.

It is important that students bring their photo device to class every week.

No homework this week.

Yearbook Homework -- No Homework

There is no YB homework this week.  However, if you did not do the homework last week, please finish it for this week.

Homework: A Day in the Life Photos Due Night of 9/15

Homework due night of 9/15

At home this week, I want you to take photos of your day(s) to give me an idea of what a day in your life looks like.  Tell a story with these photos! I want the photos from different angles and different distances. Play with your camera/phone and your photography skills.  Take many photos and then go through them and only send me the best.  I want at least six and no more than eight photos sent to me.

When you have found the photos you want, send them to me in an email.  In the email, I would like a small paragraph explaining what your day looks like.  Note -- the day in your life can be a combination of actual days throughout your week.

If you need help or have questions, do not hesitate to email me.    [email protected]

Yearbook -- First Week Update

Yearbook is off to a good start!  We took time in class this week to make sure everyone could get signed into the MacBooks as well as the Website.  This went pretty smoothly!  We also took some time to look at Yearbook covers of the past years.  I want the students to start thinking about how we want to create our cover.  That will be one of the first decisions we make on our yearbook.

There is no homework this week.  However, if there ever is, it will be posted to this page.

Have a great week!
