Hello from Mrs. Boatman

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in and let you all know that I miss you and I'm thinking about you! Hope you all are staying healthy and are enjoying your extra time at home! Have a great Spring Break and I will be in touch shortly after break with some fun activities you can do from home to keep up your math and computer skills!

Hello! We played a "Mathological Liar" game to introduce us to the topic of money. Then we played two fun money games called "Don't Break the Bank" and "Clean Up the Money". Next we will review time and will complete some "Snowy Day Elapsed Time" activities. Then, onto Geometry!

News from Interactive Math 1

Hello! Welcome to 2nd Semester! We have started talking about fractions. We played "Roll A Fraction" and "Fraction Dominos" to practice associating written fractions with their corresponding pictures. We will make Interactive Notebook pages and play some games that focus on equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. Then we will transition into talking about money and time.

Interactive Math 1 Update

We have finished up our review of three-digit by three-digit addition and subtraction. After the break we will be transitioning into fractions, money, and time. Have a wonderful break and we will see you next year!

Update for Interactive Math 1

We are working on multiplication. We played a game called "Peas in a Pod" to introduce the concept and recognize that multiplication is just repeated addition. We made an interactive notebook page and discussed patterns in a Multiplication Table. We will complete a Skittles Multiplication activity to practice our facts. Students have been playing an online game in class called "Prodigy Math"- login information is coming home this week- they are welcome to play this at home and count it towards their practice for their math logs.

Interactive Math 1 Update

We discussed which operation to use when solving story problems through playing a fun game called "Mathological Liar". We practiced multi-digit addition and subtraction and played several games to practice these skills. Next week, we will review place value through playing "Place Value Pumpkin". Then we will start discussing multiplication.

Interactive Math 1 Update

Hello! This week in class we played a game to review place value. Then we created a "Rounding Numbers" page in our Interactive Notebooks. Next week we will continue practicing rounding numbers to different place values, and we will play a game called "Roll It! Rounding".

Interactive Math Update

Hello! This week in class we reviewed some of the games we have learned in past weeks that students can play at home and count towards their fact practice if they are participating in the optional homework- these include addition and multiplication squares (both IM1 and IM2), as well as addition and multiplication war (IM2 only). Ask your student to show you how to play! We also started creating our first pages in our Interactive Notebooks focusing on place value. In IM1, we are discussing place value through the hundred millions, and in IM2, we are also including decimals through the thousandths place. Next week we will finish up our pages in our notebooks and will play place value games!

Xtra Math

Hi everyone! I have either sent information home with your student or handed you information at the orientation about how to enroll your student in www.xtramath.org. This is a great website to use for basic fact practice at home. If you have misplaced your enrollment paper, please let me know and I can email you your student's enrollment code. Once you enroll, your student's username is their first name and last initial, and their password is the last 4 digits of their enrollment code. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Welcome to Interactive Math

Hello! Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! It was so great meeting so many of you this week! If your student will be participating in the optional homework we are offering this year, please sign and have your student return the green paper that was included in the packet that I gave you this week and he or she will earn their first sticker towards a prize! As a reminder, please send in a spiral notebook to keep in the classroom on the first day of class. We will be using these to create an Interactive Notebook throughout the year. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
