Hello from Mrs. Boatman

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in and let you all know that I miss you and I'm thinking about you! Hope you all are staying healthy and are enjoying your extra time at home! Have a great Spring Break and I will be in touch shortly after break with some fun activities you can do from home to keep up your math and computer skills!

Interactive Math 2 Update

Hello! We finished up our study of fractions with an activity discussing how fractions, decimals, and percents are related. Next we reviewed money through playing a fun game called "Mall Math". We played "Spiral Multiplication" and "SMATH" (like "Scrabble" except making equations instead of words). Next we will discuss Area and Perimeter and then onto Geometry!

News from Interactive Math 2

Hello! Welcome to 2nd Semester! We have started talking about fractions. We practiced combining fractions with different denominators to make a whole. We played "Fraction Spoons" where we worked on equivalent fractions. We will make Interactive Notebook pages and play some games that focus on adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions. Then we will transition into talking about converting measurements.

Interactive Math 2 Update

We have finished up Order of Operations and have reviewed long-division. After the break, we will be transitioning into fractions. Have a wonderful break and we will see you next year!

Update for Interactive Math 2

We have been working on Order of Operations. We completed a PEMDAS Skittle activity to introduce the concept, made an Interactive Notebook page, solved several problems in groups, and will work on some Order of Operations Riddles where we will have to decide which operation goes where in a problem to make an equation equal to a target number. Students have been playing an online game in class called "Prodigy Math"- login information is coming home this week- they are welcome to play this at home and count it towards their practice for their math logs.

Interactive Math 2 Update

We played several games reviewing multi-digit multiplication. We discussed divisibility rules and played several games covering basic division. We are learning about exponents and will play an exponent memory game to apply these skills in preparation for our study of order of operations. We will practice our coordinate plane graphing skills.

Interactive Math 2 Update

Hello! This week in class we reviewed place value through playing two games called "The Rocky Digits" and "In-Step with Numbers". Next week we will work on multi-digit multiplication and play a game practicing this skill.

Interactive Math Update

Hello! This week in class we reviewed some of the games we have learned in past weeks that students can play at home and count towards their fact practice if they are participating in the optional homework- these include addition and multiplication squares (both IM1 and IM2), as well as addition and multiplication war (IM2 only). Ask your student to show you how to play! We also started creating our first pages in our Interactive Notebooks focusing on place value. In IM1, we are discussing place value through the hundred millions, and in IM2, we are also including decimals through the thousandths place. Next week we will finish up our pages in our notebooks and will play place value games!

Xtra Math

Hi everyone! I have either sent information home with your student or handed you information at the orientation about how to enroll your student in www.xtramath.org. This is a great website to use for basic fact practice at home. If you have misplaced your enrollment paper, please let me know and I can email you your student's enrollment code. Once you enroll, your student's username is their first name and last initial, and their password is the last 4 digits of their enrollment code. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Welcome to Interactive Math

Hello! Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! It was so great meeting so many of you this week! If your student will be participating in the optional homework we are offering this year, please sign and have your student return the green paper that was included in the packet that I gave you this week and he or she will earn their first sticker towards a prize! As a reminder, please send in a spiral notebook to keep in the classroom on the first day of class. We will be using these to create an Interactive Notebook throughout the year. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
