Description: Our Interactive Math Series, formerly known as Math Masters, is a hands-on math class supplementing your math curriculum at home. Students will reinforce their math skills through games, activities, and group problem-solving. Topics may include basic number skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, place value, elapsed time, 2D and 3D geometry, measurement, operations with fractions, money, estimation, rounding, data analysis, positive and negative integers, mental math and logic. Students may take weekly timed tests to improve their speed and accuracy on math facts. At the end of the year, students will have an interactive notebook filled with useful information to supplement your math lessons at home.

Checking In!

Hi Everyone!

Wow, I am missing you all so much!  I hope this finds you all healthy and in good spirits.  Next week is Spring Break, but after that I will be in touch and sending out some fun activities that you can do from home!  Until then...

Mrs. LeFevre

Interactive Math 2 Update: February

Well, we finished up our fractions activities with one on converting fractions to decimals and percentages.  You will see this activity in the students' interactive notebook.

We have moved into some geometry and measurement.  This week, we talked about polygons and perimeter and area.  Then the students' had some time to measure our classroom to find the perimeter and area.  We will finish this activity next week along with another other area/perimeter activity.

In the upcoming weeks, we will continue with geometry and measurement.  We will explore more shapes and be using protractors to measure some table angles!

Interactive Math 2 Update: January

For January, we have been working with fractions.  Fractions were introduced and we have briefly covered equivalent fractions and adding fractions with like and unlike denominators.  We will spend some time with multiplying fractions and comparing fractions, decimals and percentages in the upcoming weeks.

Interactive Math 2 Update: December

The semester has gone by very quickly!  I cannot believe we are at break already.  We spent most of the semester reviewing and practicing our operations.  When we start again in January, we will be going straight into fractions.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful break and a great holiday season!

Interactive Math 2 Update: Week of 11/18/19

We have been putting all of our operations practice together and practicing the order of operations.  The students have learned PEMDAS and how it works in a math equation. We have done a few different activities and games with PEMDAS, including going onto Math Playground on the iPads and playing a game today.

Another game the students were introduced to on the iPads today was Prodigy.  I sent a letter home with all the students today about Prodigy.  It is a game that some of the kids have played already and really enjoy.  Read the letter and check it out with your child.

Interactive Math 2 Update: Week of 10/28/19

In the past few weeks we have played games and done activities practicing multiplication, division and exponents!  If you look in your child's Interactive Math Notebook you will see the new addition of the exponent page.
This week we took a break from operations and did a Halloween/fall activity.  I introduced the students to the coordinate plane and ordered pairs to do this activity.  The students were able to use this new/reviewed knowledge to complete mystery pictures on a coordinate plane sheet.  We will revisit the coordinate plane in the spring.

Interactive Math 2 Update: Week of 10/7/19

We have been working on operations the last couple of weeks.  We have worked in multiplication and division.  Today, we added an operations page to our Interactive Notebook.

In the next couple of weeks we will be going over exponents and order of operations in our activities and games.  We also still have a bit of division to do.

One of the games we played was Pick a Perfect Product.  Below is a link if you would like to print it out.  There is also an online version of the game -- I have included that link below as well!

Interactive Math 2 Update: Week of 9/16

For the past couple of weeks we have been working on place value in class.  We have created an interactive notebook page for this topic.  This is one of the longer pages we create and it takes a lot of time at the beginning of the year.

Along with the page, we were able to get some place value games in too!

In the next couple of weeks we will be working on operations, mostly division and multiplication.  We will do several games and activities.

Math Websites

Hi All!

I added a new page to my teacher page.  It is called "Useful Math Websites."  I will add links to the page as I find good sites.  Feel free to visit anytime!   Also, if you have a site you would like to share, let me know.  I will check it out and then add it to the page.

Thanks!

Interactive Math -- First Week Update

Hi All!
We are off to a great start in our Interactive Math classes!  This week I gave many of the students their class folders.  These folders will stay at school and will contain  the students' class warm-up work.  I also gave out the first page for our Interactive Notebooks...the blank table of contents!  We will fill this in as we create pages for the book.

The first topic that we will really be tackling is number sense and place value.  We will then go into some rounding and more math operation fact practice.

If at any time you are curious about what games we are playing in class or where I have found games, send me an e-mail and I will let you know.

Also, the optional homework starts this week.  I will be checking the logs next week when the students come in.
