This week we will read Jory John's The Bad Seed and think about character change and theme.

I removed it from the Google Classroom resources, even though the directions in the video say to complete it. Please know you are not required to do any more than enjoy the Anansi story this week.

Hello everyone! This week we will go through our first folktale, Anansi the Spider. Folktales are similar to pourquoi tales, as you will see in this week's lesson.

There is no required work to turn in this week, but I do have a few of your own pourqoui tales to share. The ones I am sharing this week are from students who both had their pourquoi tales turned in by Friday (10/16/20) and had the permission form filled out. If you would like me to share your pourquoi tale in the upcoming weeks I will watch for your permission form as well.

The time has come! I am so excited to see your own pourquoi tales come to life. My daughter Brooklynn and I perform a play for you this week about our pourquoi tale, "Why Raccoons Wear Masks." After watching our puppet show you will have four different options in which to share your own pourquoi tale with me.

3. Share your pourquoi tale with me in one of the four mentioned ways from the lesson. I can't wait to see them!

4. Have a parent fill out the "Permission to Share" survey.

This week you will use the story elements you came up with last week (the characters, setting, problem and solution) to create a storyboard.

A storyboard is an overview of the events of your story.

This week will continue with the same Pourquoi tale "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears" to demonstrate cause and effect.

Please complete the following steps and reach out with questions.
1. Watch "Puppets week 5"
2. Complete your puppets from last week.
3. Use your puppets to show at least 3 cause and effect relationships from the story.

Sharing Options:
Take pictures and insert in a Google Doc. Add words to describe the cause and effect.

Make a video with the puppets and narrate the cause and effect relationship (Ex: ________ did ____________, so _____________ happened)

Come visit me during office hours with your puppets and act out the cause and effect relationships.
