Description: Students will explore the cooking styles and traditions of cultures around the world. Students will select a culture they are interested in and spend class time researching recipes and traditions around food and meal times to create a unique cookbook about their culture. Students will lead their classmates in the preparation of some of their selected recipes. All students will end the year with their own unique published cookbook. Students are expected to already have a basic understanding of cooking and reading and using recipes.

Just a reminder that your presentation slideshow is due by the end of this week, even if you are not presenting until next semester. Please refer to previous posts for details.

You must choose your culture by the beginning of class next week. During class, we will determine when everyone will give their presentation. The first presentation will be on the last week of September and will continue through the winter, so you have time. We will spend some time during class building our slideshows, but the rest of it must be completed at home.
 
Even if you aren't presenting until next semester, I expect everyone to have their slide shows completed and ready for grading by the first week of December. It will account for 30% of first semester's grade. The other 70% is for participation, including helping the class find recipes for each culture as it is presented.
 
The only thing that must be completed by next week is choosing the culture you want to present on, and sharing a blank google slideshow with your chosen culture as the title. Please email me if you want to change your culture and I will let you know if it's taken or not. Also, let me know if you didn't receive a copy of the rubric, which outlines the expectations for this assignment.
 
Remember, each slide only needs to contain one simple fact, with relevant pictures, videos, maps or other images. 
 
This coming week, I will give a sample presentation on Sweden, and we will cook a Swedish recipe the following week.
